Sensirion’s all-in-one air quality sensor SEN5x

The SEN5x family, represented by the SEN50, SEN54 and SEN55, is an air quality sensor solution platform for the accurate measurement of various environmental parameters, such as particulate matter, volatile organic compounds (VOCs), nitrogen oxides (NOx), as well as humidity & temperature.

Thanks to its proprietary algorithms (temperature and humidity compensation, VOC index calculation), the SEN5x enables a compact, easy and fast integration into various applications. It comes with an I2C interface, supply voltage of 5 volts and can operate for more than 10 years in a wide range of temperatures (-10 to 50 °C).

The particulate matter sensor measures PM1, PM2.5, PM4 and PM10 with a superior lifetime and compact form factor

The SEK-SEN5x evaluation kit has been designed to help you evaluate Sensirion’s SEN5x environmental nodes easily and cost-efficiently. The kit contains the SEN5x sensor node, which is equipped with particulate matter sensing technology, an SGP41, an SHT4x humidity sensor and a microcontroller featuring VOC and NOx Index, relative humidity, and temperature outputs via I²C interface.

The SEK-SEN5x evaluation kit includes two cable sets. The “adapter cable” allows you to connect to a computer via the SEK-SensorBridge, which must be bought separately and can be ordered on the Arrow website.

Sensirion’s SEK-ControlCenter viewer software can be used for evaluating the sensor. In addition, the kit includes a jumper cable that enables fast prototyping, e.g., through integration into existing platforms (like Arduino, RaspberryPi, etc.). The software and relevant documentation can be downloaded from the Sensirion website.

Additional Notes

The SEK-SensorBridge allows you to connect suitable Sensirion sensors to a computer. It works hand-in-hand with the SEK-ControlCenter software. There are two ports on the SEK-SensorBridge, allowing you to connect sensors. You can connect more than one sensor to each port, provided that the sensors have different I2C addresses.

Important: For evaluating particulate matter sensors (SEK-SPS30), VOC sensors (SEK-SVM40) and formaldehyde sensors (SEK-SFA30) no SEK-SensorBridge is needed.
