Responding to rapid advancements in health care technology and the increasing need to accelerate the product development cycle, Arrow Electronics has embarked on a unique marketing initiative customized for the medical device community – the Arrow One Source program. 

One Source combines the strengths of two powerhouses in medical technology – Texas Instruments and Honeywell – with Arrow’s engineering and design services and technical support to deliver comprehensive solutions for medical applications.  The collaboration is designed to offer valuable resources for the development of next-generation medical devices from one convenient source. 

According to Rob Balson, director of the medical group for Arrow Electronics, customers want more from their distribution partner.  Manufacturers want a solutions provider, in addition to a components supplier.

“We asked ourselves what we could do differently to better support the medical device community and help differentiate Arrow as a distribution partner,” said Balson.  “The One Source partnership is part of a larger Arrow initiative to offer a more solutions-based approach.”

One Source is the initial step in a new direction for Arrow to identify the right partners to create innovative solutions to this mission-critical market segment. The program helps customers accelerate time to market – an important differentiator in today’s time-intensive marketplace.  “Instead of researching and contacting 40 suppliers for quotes, customers can call on Arrow as a single source and receive reliable support, service and technical know-how,” said Balson.

Arrow’s medical group identified partners that offer the right technology, methodology and systems integration that best meet the needs of current and potential Arrow customers.  Texas Instruments offers technology that addresses the need for portability, wireless connectivity, performance and precision.  Honeywell is a leader in sensor solutions, providing devices that are low in power consumption, small in size and high in energy efficiency.

Customers also benefit from the suite of design and engineering services within Arrow OEM Computing Solutions group, providing global system integration and logistics capabilities.  From remote diagnostic centers to large-scale storage and information systems, Arrow is well versed in the requirements of the medical market - be it standards-based hardware, lifecycle management, or even reliability requirements.
